Privacy Policy of Remote for Android TV & Cast

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2021-01-01

This Privacy Policy explains what information this app may use, why it is used, and what choices you have when using the app.

The app is designed to control compatible Android TVs over your local network, support pairing, optional voice input, and optional media casting. The app is intended to keep as much data as possible on your device and local network.

Information the App May Use

Device and Network Information

To find and connect to TVs on your network, the app may access information such as TV names, local IP addresses, service details, and connection state.

Advertising, Consent, and Device Identifiers

The app may show ads using advertising SDKs such as Google AdMob, Unity/LevelPlay etc. These SDKs may process information such as the Google Advertising ID, device information, ad interactions, diagnostics, and related identifiers for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and ad performance reporting.

Where required, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising privacy choices. You can manage available ad privacy choices from your device.

Diagnostics and Crash Reports

The app may send crash reports and diagnostic information to help identify and fix technical problems. This may include device model, Android version, app version, stack traces, and similar technical details.

Settings and Shortcuts

The app stores your local preferences on your device, for example theme choice, auto-connect, haptic feedback, app shortcuts, active device selection, and similar convenience settings.

Voice Input

If you use the voice command button, the app accesses your microphone only for that feature. Captured audio is used to send your voice command to the connected TV or related TV service. The app is not intended to upload voice recordings to a developer-operated server.

Local Media

If you use casting features, the app may temporarily expose selected media from your phone to the paired Android TV over your local network so the TV can load it. Selected media and related metadata may therefore be processed by the TV or by Google Cast components on the device.

How Information Is Used

The app may use the information above to:

Where Data Is Stored

App data is stored locally on your device. This includes app settings, paired device details, and other local state needed for normal operation.

App does not rely on a developer-run cloud backend for its normal remote-control workflow. Communication happens directly between your phone and the TV on your local network.

Third-Party Services

Some features may involve third-party components provided by Android, Google Play services, Google Cast, or the TV manufacturer. For example, voice requests or cast playback may be handled in part by services outside this app.

Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. For Google services, see: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Data Sharing

The app is not intended to sell your personal information. Data may still be shared with the connected TV or the relevant platform service when that is necessary to carry out the feature you explicitly use, such as voice input, app launch, or casting.

Your Choices

Security

Reasonable steps are taken to store sensitive pairing data securely on the device. Even so, no software or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's Privacy

This app is not specifically directed at children. If you believe personal information has been provided inappropriately, please contact the developer.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If that happens, the updated version will be published in the app and the effective date will be adjusted.
